When you import candy, one of the first questions is always: does the factory hold the certifications my market requires? Certifications are not paperwork — they are proof that a factory can produce food safely, consistently, and in compliance with the rules of the destination country.
Kason Candy’s factory is certified under five internationally recognized standards: Halal, BRC, FDA, HACCP and ISO. This article explains what each one covers and why it matters for your import business.
Halal certification confirms that ingredients, processing aids and production processes comply with Islamic dietary requirements. For candy exported to Middle Eastern, Southeast Asian and other Muslim-majority markets, Halal certification is a mandatory entry ticket — supermarkets and distributors in these regions will not list a product without it. Our Halal certification covers the full production chain, from ingredient sourcing to the finished product.
BRC Global Standards (BRCGS) is one of the most respected food safety certification schemes in the world, recognized by major retailers across Europe and beyond. A BRC-certified factory has passed an independent audit covering management commitment, HACCP systems, site standards, product control, process control and personnel. For buyers supplying European supermarkets, BRC is frequently a contractual requirement.
FDA registration (with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration) is required for facilities that manufacture food exported to the United States. It confirms the factory is registered with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and follows the applicable requirements of the U.S. food regulatory system, including the Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) under the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA).
HACCP is a systematic approach to food safety. Instead of testing only the final product, HACCP identifies every step in production where contamination could occur — biological, chemical or physical — and establishes control points with monitoring and corrective action. Our HACCP plan covers receiving, storage, mixing, baking, packaging and foreign-object detection, which is why the laser detection step on our oat chocolate line is not a nice-to-have but a documented critical control point.
ISO certification (such as ISO 9001 for quality management) demonstrates that our factory operates under a documented, continuously improved management system — covering processes, documentation, training and corrective actions. It is the foundation that keeps the other certifications effective year after year.
